Downtown Ferry Boat Engagement

We are big fans of planning an engagement session around an activity. For Chandler & Patrick’s engagement session – we decided to take a roundtrip ferry ride from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island, followed by a walk/skate through the Olympic Sculpture Park. We were treated to a moody, foggy sky and took advantage of the Seattle skyline before it quickly faded out of view as we headed towards Bainbridge Island. The ferry was surprisingly busy but we found some perfect nooks to take pictures in. On the way back from Bainbridge, we headed inside the ferry to take shelter from the wind. The old Washington ferry boats always make for cozy, quiet images that I have really grown to love.

Once we docked back in the city, we headed to the Olympic Sculpture Park (one of my favorite spots in the city). Chandler & Patrick took up roller blading a couple of years ago as a pandemic activity and it has quickly become a big part of their lives. They strapped on their rolled skates, turned on some music and ran through a few choreographed routines together (one of which they will be performing at their wedding). Instead of doing a first dance at their wedding they’ll be doing a first skate! 🥰👏

After some skating, we took a few more photos throughout the park and called it a day. ✨

This engagement session was a mix of digital, film and instant film! If you want to see more work photographed on film, checkout:
